Electric Folk Dance Party
is returning from in Hathersage Memorial Hall, Derbyshire.

What is EFDP?

Electric Folk Dance Party (EFDP) 2.0 is a community folk dance event originating in British, American and European social folk dance styles (ceilidh, contra and balfolk) with a focus on approaches to "electric" folk music. EFDP represents the first event of this kind in the UK and as an emerging genre, interpretations can be broad; for now EFDP centres the synth-wielding sorcery, trancey beats and dazzling light shows of Bearded Dragons, Portmanteau and Amy Worrall, and the fantastic calling of Daisy Black and Charlie Turner.

Everyone is welcome, whether you are a seasoned folk dancer or a complete beginner; we just ask that you follow the community expectations. Ceilidh and contra will be called (taught); bal is not taught, but the dances are fairly straightforward to pick up on the fly and improvisation is encouraged. If you are completely new to folk dancing and don't know anyone, come and join our Discord server and introduce yourself - the folk community is generally very friendly and welcoming.
